Donation Information

The Friends of the Glen Cove Youth Board is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was formed for the purpose of supporting and augmenting many of the programs that are offered by the Glen Cove Youth Bureau.

The Friends of the Glen Cove Youth Board is funded by grants from private organizations and businesses, and contributions from individuals.  As a volunteer organization, virtually all of its funds go directly towards helping the youth of our community.

The Glen Cove Youth Bureau graciously accepts donations for various events throughout the year.  Below you will find a list of our recurring needs.  Please contact the Youth Bureau if you would like to make a donation toward any of these events:

Fourth of July Bike Parade – Monetary and in-kind donations (juice, water, and cookies) accepted for refreshments, balloons and helium, small hand-held American flags.

Fill-a-Bookbag -  Backpacks (no wheels, please) for students in grades PreK – 5, master notebooks, three ring binders and all the supplies (such as pencils, pens, note paper, marble notebooks, crayons, markers, rulers, index cards, hole punch, etc.) a student needs to excel during the school year.

Raffle Prizes – Each fall, the Friends of the Glen Cove Youth Board holds its major fundraiser, the proceeds of which support the ongoing programs at the Youth Bureau.  Raffle items, such as gift certificates to restaurants, sporting events, shows and activities, as well as actual gift items are accepted.  No item is too small or too large.  We request that all items be new and in their original packaging.

Thanksgiving/holiday food baskets – Adopt a family and provide all the fixings for a family feast.  We also collect partial basket collections of stuffing, canned vegetables, gravy, dessert mixes, juice and shelf stable milk.  Frozen turkeys are accepted shortly before Thanksgiving.  Gift cards and cash donations are accepted to purchase turkeys and perishable items.

Milk and Cookies with Santa – Each December, Santa stops in Glen Cove and delivers gifts to our youngest residents.  Please consider donating a new toy for a young child aged newborn to 10.  We also request $15 -$25 gift cards to local stores and restaurants for older children.

Food Pantry – Non-perishable food such as cereal, soup, pasta, sauce, shelf stable milk, juice, vegetables, fruit.  We also accept personal hygiene items and paper goods such as toilet paper, tissues and towels.  Please call ahead before donating perishable items – our refrigerator/freezer space is limited.  Cash donations and gift cards to local supermarkets are also appreciated.

Monetary Donations are gratefully accepted throughout the year to support our food pantry, youth program and teen enrichment activities.

All checks should be made payable to Friends of the Glen Cove Youth Board.  Please state intended use of your donation. Donations, which are tax deductible, should be mailed to Glen Cove Youth Bureau, 128B Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY 11542. Please note, while we appreciate your generosity, we are not in a position to accept used books, clothing, toys, TVs, electronics or sporting goods.  Thank you for your kindness toward others.
